Would any health insurance cover alternative medicine to chemo?

Question: Would any health insurance cover alternative medicine to chemo?

(Posted by: Ron Paul 2012! on 2011-10-25 15:20:57)

I quit my chemo and started taking Amygdalin aka Vitamin B17. B17 was banned by the FDA but it's still legal. Is there any health insurance company that would pay at least part of it. It doesn't cost a lot but if I'm paying for health insurance, I want to get the most out of it. according to this article it's banned but still legal:http:/ / www.1cure4cancer.com/ controlcancer/ information/ legality.htm People who had cancer gave testimonies and said it cured them or at least shrunk their tumors. I've been on chemo for 4 years and I'm sick of it. I want something that will actually work. I was watching conspiracy theorists who said chemo destroys the body and should be avoided at all costs. The FDA only banned B17 because it does have potential to cure cancer. The Bilderbergs (elite) don't want that because they want to take over the world. Also, some polls indicated that most doctors would refuse chemo if they had cancer. Why? Because they know something they're not telling us in fear of losing their job. Natural cures are cheap but the "cure " chemo is really expensive and that's how insurance companies and others make a profit. My Dad also had cancer and died because chemo doesn't work

You would have to start looking around and calling the companies, most of them, probably 99.9% will not cover it.

First off if it was banned by the F.D.A. it is illegal, period. Secondly you have to build up the immune system to effect any change in your cancer diagnosis. There is an Herb called specifically "Cancer De Herba ". Which means cancer herb in Spanish. Also "Cancerina " which literally means female cancer in Spanish. All vitamins can help your immune system if you are low in that particular vitamin.

There is NO 'alternative medicine' to chemo. Amygdalin is not a vitamin, and it does not work. This was highlighted by a recent Cochrane Collaboration review which also concluded: "Patients exposed to this agent should be instructed about the danger of cyanide poisoning, and their blood cyanide levels should be carefully monitored. Amygdalin (Laetrile) is a toxic drug that is not effective as a cancer treatment ". onlinelibrary.wiley.com/ doi/ 10.1002/ 14651858.CD005476.pub2/ abstract;jsessionid= 0731E1081B8E2A9434C8716D94414D70.d03t03 There is a good why its not FDA approved. I think you'll find that no health insurance bodies will cover its use, with good reason. I urge you to have a serious re-think about this. ------- EDIT: You can find testimonials on any website for any product. In terms of health they are virtually useless, for numerous reasons. Testimonials are anecdotes. Please read: en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Anecdotal_evidence quackwatch.org/ 01QuackeryRelatedTopics/ scivsalt.html Amygdalin is cancer quackery - an in depth article explains: quackwatch.org/ 01QuackeryRelatedTopics/ Cancer/ laetrile.html If you are seeking fair and balanced information on this then you must look at all sides - not just selecting the information that you want to see. Best wishes. ------- EDIT: CHEMO SAVES LIVES EVERY DAY. Stops being so closed minded, read the links you have been provided and stop looking at quack websites.

Not that I know of unless you can get your dr to say it is for another reason that may be covered

I do understand that miraculous cancer cure testimonials sound convincing. That is what they are meant to. And at times it can be very hard to spot where they go wrong. The most frequent things to look for is: 1) Was it really cancer? (how was the diagnosis made?) 2) Was the alternative therapy the only treatment used? (sometimes surgery etc. is curative). 3) Did the cancer really disappear? (How was that established?) This is described in further details here: users.on.net/ ~pmoran/ cancer/ how_to_read_a_testimonial.htm And about Amygdalin/ Laetrile/ Vitamin B17: It is not a vitamin. Amygdalin/ laetrile was claimed to be a vitamin by chemist Ernst T. Krebs in the hope that if classified as a nutritional supplement it would escape the federal legislation regarding the marketing of drugs. He could also capitalize on the public fad for vitamins at that time. Since the early 1950s, a modified form of amygdalin has been promoted under the names laetrile and “Vitamin B17″ as a cancer cure.. It has been tested to see if it really is effective as a cancer treatment. And the results were disappointing. Here is a review from 2007 based on 36 clinical studies on the effect of laetrile on cancer in patients: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ pubmed/ 17106659?itool= EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum &ordinalpos= 2 None of these studies proved the effectiveness of laetrile. Laetrile contains cyanide, which is a type of poison. So the side effects of laetrile are the same as those of cyanide. These include * Sickness * Headache * Dizziness * Liver damage * A lack of oxygen to the body tissues * A drop in blood pressure * Drooping eyelids * Fever * Nerve damage, causing loss of balance and difficulty walking * Confusion, coma and eventually death It is estimated that eating approximately 50 to 60 apricot kernels, or 50g of laetrile, can cause death. The lack of evidence and the risk of serious side effects are more than good reasons to ban its use as cancer treatment. Here is more on the Laetrile myth: cancerhelp.org.uk/ about-cancer/ treatment/ complementary-alternative/ therapies/ laetrile ETA: [Also, some polls indicated that most doctors would refuse chemo if they had cancer. Why? ] This is also totally wrong. The myth comes from a survey in 1985 about a new drug cisplatin for non-small cell lung cancer. abut 30% answered that they would take this treatment. In a new survey from 1997 64,5% answered that they would have chemotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer. A study from 1991 covered many kinds of cancer and cancer stages, from early stage to terminal, as well as to experimental therapies. It shows percentages as high as 98% of doctors willing to undergo chemotherapy, while the remaining 2 % were uncertain, and none answered “definitely no” or “probably no” to chemotherapy. I think you should read an analysis of that claim here: anaximperator.wordpress.com/ 2010/ 05/ 06/ do-75-of-doctors-refuse-chemotherapy-on-themselves/ where you also will find links making it possible to check the claims out for yourself.

No. It's not an FDA approved treatment regimine- and even then, most insurance companies won't pay for many more mainstream FDA approved treatment plans. Who told you to stop the chemo? You know that doctors prescribe treatments because they work, right?
